Greetings ladies and germs.
Kevin here checkin' in from the Laurie Morvan Band.
Finally a day off. And what better place to have
it than Bud and Rita's (Laurie's Mom and Dad). Our
tour is approaching its tearful end. But of course
a beginning of something new and exciting awaits
us. What it is we can only imagine. Life on the
road is so exciting. We meet so many beautiful people
and the magical moments on stage are all unique
to themselves. The feeling I get when I connect
with Laurie on stage is really indescribable. The
people we meet at our shows are just the greatest.
Blues fans are the best.
Of course the road does have its downside. I have
a wife and son , Melissa and Zane. Being away from
them is very hard. Honestly I don't know how they
put up with me being gone so much. I thank them
for their love and patience. I am also a huge fitness
enthusiast. Working out on the road is a real challenge.
If I work out too hard before a show I pay for it
on stage by feeling weak and hungry. As a result
I struggle all night to give a good performance
and am disappointed with myself at times. If our
hotel has a pool, I always try to get a swim in
before a show. If a pool is not available I'll try
to get 30 minutes of cardio in if the hotel has
a gym. Of course many times I'm just too exhausted
to do anything but sleep , which is just as important
as working out. And staying up until 4:00 am drinking
beer and watching Adult Swim doesn't make things
any easier the next day, especially if we have an
early check out.
I've been practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for about
ten years now. I've only trained at one academy
while on the road. It was Combat-Do near Plainfield,
Illinois. It was an ass-kicker of a work out. I
also signed up for three days at Snap Fitness in
Plainfield while we had three days off (thanks Karen)
. If anyone would like to train with me or knows
of a BJJ school where we are happening to be touring
please let me know. I don't care what level you
are, I just need to get some rolling in.
Well thanks for reading (if you even made it this
far). I've enjoyed my time with you all. Follow
your dreams and be in the moment. Because the future
is not guaranteed.
Quote of the day: Never argue with an idiot. Because
he will drag you down to his level and beat you
with experience.
