Off
at around 11 am to get to Wichita to play a 7:30 pm show.
Don Bean is a promoter in Wichita who puts on blues shows.
This is the second year in a row that he has had us for one
of his events. Don is a great guy and he always treats us
first rate. We check in at our hotel, which was very comfortable,
and we go to the sound check at the venue. Everyone is very
welcoming to us and Bill, the soundman, proves to be beyond
competent. He gets us dialed in quickly and we head back to
the hotel to change after we eat. Vietnamese food. Mmmm.
The show goes well. The room was not packed but the crowd
that was there was good size and enthusiastic. We do two 75
minute sets. During the 2nd set, Don reminds Laurie that she
was supposed to write a blues called "Bad Bean Blues"
for him. Without missing a beat Laurie and the band kick into
a medium shuffle in E and Laurie improvises a couple of verses.
The crowd really enjoyed this. We finish the night with our
new version of "Crossroads" that sounds really
cool. Made it to bed around 11 pm. Need to be on the road
by 9 am to make a 5 1/2 hour drive to Omaha for a 5:30 pm
show. Good Night.
