Donto James mowing at Greg and Roberta's house We are on the road to Lansing from Boulder to stay a couple of nights at our good friends Greg and Roberta. Can't wait to catch up with them and rest up before we start on Wednesday for 12 in a row. Whew. It was a pretty uneventful drive through the Great Plains State of Kansas. Lots of rolling hills with crops and cows as far as the eye can see.

Up at 7 am on Monday and off for a run. Not used to the humidity and hills here in Kansas but did the best I could. I like to get some exercise whenever I can and when I feel up to it, as we spend a lot of time sitting during a tour. Had a wonderful day of relaxation with visiting, practicing, and reading. Topped the evening off with pizza and by watching the Home Run Derby in Anaheim at the All Star Games. I like baseball. David Ortiz or 'Big Poppy' won the slug fest. He started out slow but finished real strong with 13 and 11 in his final rounds. Off to bed.

Up around 6:30 am. Tuesday morning. Everyone is still sleeping. Quietly made a cup of coffee and came back to my room to catch up on email and practice (no amp). I am working on some jazz heads like 'Night in Tunisia' which helps keep my reading skills sharp. We have band rehearsal at 2 pm where we work on some of Laurie's new originals and to brush up on some others that we need to go over. We are always striving to improve our shows.

Roberta makes a great meal of pot roast, baked potatoes, corn and carrots. She follows it up with homemade ice cream. We watch a music video featuring Jimmy Paige, the Edge, and Jack White that dealt with each of these guitarist's careers. It was called "It May Get Too Loud" and was pretty cool. It covered three generations of guitarists and how they came to where they are today. I finished the evening off by watching the All Star game with Greg. What a very relaxing time we had. Thanks, Roberta and Greg. You guys are the best.
